3-d casting is the ultimate way of capturing every last little wrinkle and crease, the possibilities are endless…
The process is very simple, completely safe and harmless to baby's delicate skin, makes very little mess, and the actual casting takes around 1 minute to do… all in the comfort of your own home.
On the day we will talk you through the whole process, show you some of our example pieces for you to choose your desired finish, and then we will run through the options with you.
The Process:
- First we will cover the hand/foot in baby lotion (this just makes baby’s hand/ foot a bit slippery, for the moment when we need to remove the mould)
- We then mix up our fast setting, life casting Alginate with tepid water, and fill our casting cloth/tub with the mixture. .
- Now the fun bit!
We simply pop the hand/foot into the mixture,* and ensure that it’s not touching the sides. Our fast setting formula will allow full mobility of the hand/foot up to the point of set. This is typically 1 minute.
*Babies might be a bit surprised but they generally quite like the squidgy feeling
- The mould is now complete, after gently removing it from the foot/hand we take it away with us and take your cast direct from it. Your cast is returned to you within 21 days typically, dependent upon its size and drying times.
Please note that when we take a cast removing it from the mould destroys the mould, so only one cast can be taken from each mould.
Once your casting has been taken you can choose from our extensive list of options to finish it as you like.
